About us

Mission
Shtetl is a non-profit media outlet serving as a free press for the Haredi community of New York and beyond. Shtetl covers issues in the Haredi community that matter to the community and to New Yorkers in general. Our mission is to report honestly and accurately on the Haredi community, to be a source of truthful and illuminating information that can inform the people and hold the powerful accountable.
Vision
Shtetl News believes that every community deserves a free and honest media. We envision a world where Haredi people can learn about events that are relevant to their lives without the filter of community leaders and gatekeepers. We envision a world where the broader Jewish community, New Yorkers, and policymakers are more knowledgeable about life in the ultra-Orthodox communities, their needs, their desires, their goals, their struggles, and their triumphs.
